This chapter begins the account of Abraham’s walk of faith.
God did not give Abraham reasons or explanations; He simply gave him promises:
“I will show you . . . I will make of you . . . I will bless you . . . I will bless them that bless you” (Genesis 12:1-2)
(1) a land; (2) a great name; (3) a great nation; and (4) a blessing that would spread to the whole world
The missionary mandate of the church does not begin with John 3:16 or Matthew 28:18-20. It begins with God’s covenant with Abraham. We are blessed that we might be a blessing.
